Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Hello again!

On Monday, we'll be reviewing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" (the Bruce Springsteen version) during morning rehearsal.  This will be a combo piece with the Senior Band and is now a yearly tradition.  Here is a YouTube link to a video of the Bruce Springsteen version (with lyrics). Concert Week

Good afternoon, Middle School Chorus Members and Parents,

Concert week is here!  I first want to congratulate the Chorus for all of their hard work and dedication. Everything is coming together nicely, and the concert is going to be wonderful. 

Looking ahead to this week, we will be having two rehearsals during this final push. Of course, we will rehearse on Monday morning at our usual time slot. We will also be rehearsing on Friday morning and hopefully completing a five-minute sound check that day.

For the concert on Sunday, Dec. 14, I would ask that students arrive at school no later than 3:45 (you may need to report a little earlier if you are also in Senior/Jazz Band).  I haven't heard from any families, so my hope is that all members are performing in the concert. Please contact me via email ASAP if you foresee any issues that day.  Remember, the concert is at 4PM this year!

Rehearsals - Week of Nov. 17

Good morning, Middle School Chorus Students and Parents,

We are approximately one month away from our Christmas Concert.  Sectionals went very well this week, and we were able to polish a lot of the music for our upcoming performance.

Looking ahead, it would be beneficial to add a rehearsal day to the calendar next week.  We will hold our normal Monday morning rehearsal.  In addition, we would like to hold a rehearsal on Friday, November 21 at 8am.  This Friday rehearsal will be for all vocal parts.

Please make every effort to attend this Friday rehearsal. If you are not able to attend this additional rehearsal, please let me know ASAP.

I appreciate everybody's effort and commitment to the chorus!  Keep up all the great work!

Sectionals

Good afternoon, Middle School Chorus members and parents,

Tomorrow, we will be having sectional rehearsals during our normal chorus rehearsal time.  We'll be focusing on "Most Wonderful Time of the Year" in smaller groups. 

Students singing part one should report to Mrs. Beatty's room.

Students singing part two should report to Miss Benedict in the music classroom.

Be prepared to really work through some parts. We're have just over a month until the Christmas Concert on Dec. 14!

Upcoming Masses and Performances

Good morning!

As promised, here is information regarding upcoming school liturgies and performances.

• MS Chorus is scheduled to sing for the Monday, December 8 Mass at 9am.  As always, I welcome any student who has a desire to lead the community in song as a cantor.  If anyone is interested in training to be a cantor, please let me know.  I would be happy to work with you.
• Our Annual Christmas Concert is scheduled for Sunday, December 14 at 4pm. This is a time change from past years.  It is earlier in the day so that our school families can enjoy the concert without worrying about a late night and an early wake-up the next morning.  All MS Chorus members are expected to perform in this concert.  Please let me know ASAP if there is a potential conflict. 

Mr. Norton and I are still working on a possible daytime performance for the week after the Christmas Concert.  Last year, the Senior Band and MS Chorus performed at the Exton Mall.  We are still waiting for confirmation from several locations, and I will update you as soon as I have any information.

Welcome to the new St. Aloysius Academy Middle School Chorus blog!  This year, I hope to use this blog as a way to keep everyone up-to-date on all MS Chorus rehearsal notes, concert dates, performance opportunities, and other related news.  Please check back regularly for all updates!
